First night of vacation, at last. We had marinated grilled chicken (my favorite Melissa Clark fish sauce/lime recipe), rice and salad, plus some cookies. The kitchen here is remarkably well furnished in some ways: good knives, good pans, a silpat, but then oddly lacking: almost no bowls at all (serving, eating or mixing), no pot holders? No complaints, though!

OK, this isn't diner, but I am setting the scene.
