Jennie and David's: bread and a cake from the NYT: strawberry cassata. I made a few changes to the recipe after reading the comments: made more syrup for soaking the layers and more ricotta filling. I also baked it in a sheet pan and then cut it into fourths to create the layers (honestly, there was no way I was going to be able to slice 4 layers out of one round cake). So much easier and the rectangular shape looked very pretty. I only wish I had had some more strawberries. I'll make this again when the season arrives.
