After a day doing things I don't normally do (going to tag sales and sitting around on a dock, for instance), we had a lovely dinner of grilled chicken and pineapple, a sort of Asian inspired cabbage salad with uncooked ramen noodles, and a chocolate birthday cake (from me). My favorite thing was the asparagus tart that Jen and I made for an appetizer. From Smitten and absolutely delicious. We used a store bought puff pastry instead of making a pie crust, and I have no regrets. It was wonderful and I am making it for home later in the week.
The cake was just a mix, with chocolate frosting from Smitten. I tried to frost it nicely and it didn't look too bad!
